Random Sci-fi start

I loaded my assault rifle with a clip which I had pulled off one of the numerous troops. The hanger I had boarded with my team was cold and anti-homey with metal all over the room. “Typical space hanger,” I thought to myself. I had taken out all these troops already. They stood around me since I was the group leader. I dipped my finger in on of the corpses. I lifted it to my mouth and tasted it. A horrible taste burned within my mouth. I spat it out immediately knowing what species blood it was. “Why are they using Vereculins?” I thought out loud.

“Vereculins?” Nathan questioned me.

“What is ‘The Coherence’ doing using Vereculins?” vainly asked Adela bending down to examine the body.

“That’s exactly what I want to know, the Vereculins are a peace loving species of being. Meaning one conclusion can be drawn; The Coherence has conquered the planet Verec,” I stated.

“Uh, guys?” Nathan stuttered.

“Yeah Nathan?” I mumbled.

“We have company…” he began. I looked up from my examination to find troops pouring in through the main entry way into the rest of the space station.

“Oh, crud…” I muttered. The troops never ceased flooding the room knowing we were a great threat. “New plan, retreat for now,” I ordered. Backing toward my ship, Nathan and Adela jumped in his curious ship. His ship was rather a bulky horrid looking thing but it actually was a magnificent ship. One person flew it while the other sat at the turret on the top and shot at the enemy ships. I jumped in the cockpit of the measly ship I used. The ship was temporary until I could purchase a better fighter. It had one gun that fired pretty slow and somewhat large and didn’t flew very fast. The only feature it had that was good was carrying extremely heavy objects.
