Callister Onslaught

-THE CALLISTER ONSLAUGHT-

-Chapter 1-

I stood in the presence of the king of the Machiaterzians. I being a Machiaterz was one of his subjects. More or less I was one of their head military men. However the mission he was sending me on, this particular day was not militaristic, but rather to study a recently discovered planet they had found near the edge of our space. I was being sent alone. I now stood at the gateway out of the mother ship awaiting the approval to leave the ship. I was equipped with my signature weapon the Callister made by the legendary "Velidriums." It was the only weapon of its kind and was one of the most amazing I had ever seen. The weapon created an atmosphere around the wielder that was inhabitable. In other words the gun created the necessary gas around you for you to survive even in deep space. Regardless of the gun's unique abilities I was traveling in a Machiaterzian space ship to the unexplored planet for reasons of conserving time.

I sat there in the chair of my ship which I called the "Melandaz." This was where I had sat countless other times during some of the most fiery battles my race had ever seen. The ship's A.I. began to come online. "Bzzt..." the visual came on the ship's screen, "He... hello Captain," the A.I., who I called Mari, greeted me in its expressionless female tone that it normally had. The Melandaz was one of the finest ships I had ever seen flown by a single person. The ship used many holograms, in fact so many holographic controls a claustrophobic person would have serious problems. The Holograms were purposely low grade to save on costs; therefore, the holograms were semi-transparent. I pulled the only material control panel which was on mechanical arm closer to me and activated the thousands of holographic controls. I quickly typed in the coordinates for our destination I then hovered my hand over the 'depart' holographic button. "The station gatekeeper says you are clear for departure," alerted Mari. I gently touched the depart button and within seconds I was out of the mother ship flying in the big black yonder.

Around eight years ago, according to a report , the scout ship Atal had been returning with a broken navigation from a war in the Dagge Sector upon realizing their navigation system was failing stopped on a near by planet. The planet, they reported, had been suitable for Machiaterzian life. I was now being sent to investigate this planet and to decide whether the planet would be worth conquering if it has inhabitants. I laid the Callister leaning on my command chair and continued to control the ship guiding it through the endless space.

According to my findings it would take around two weeks to get there at full speed. I put the ship on auto-pilot and went to my quarters further back in the ship.

It took what seemed like years to reach our destination. Our destination which was a small little blue planet had a number of space stations with primitive space craft going to and fro from the space station, some docking, some departing. On the holographic keyboard I typed on my report, "Occupation of planet by intelligent life: Inhabited." These space stations were proof enough for me. Now chances were if they had spacecraft they had some form of radio technology. I quickly adjusted the communication controls monitoring one of their radio channels. Over the speakers the sound of a male alien sung a song in a foreign language. I then adjusted the controls to figure out the language and translate the speech in my own language. It took a matter of seconds before Mari came on informing, "Operation complete."

"Very good Mari, continue orbiting this planet," I ordered. Suddenly the alien voice transferred its language into my own. It was a song.

"...And I wanted her so baad..." the voice sang. I quickly flicked the radio off. It was an entertainment channel. Next, I needed to test the atmosphere to see if it was suitable for me to go down and investigate these aliens further. Now the planet's atmosphere would probably illuminate my shield making my ship appear in a really bright sphere-like light.

A red light illuminated. I looked back at the main screen. Apparently the ship had detected a medium amount of the gas carbon-monoxide, a gas produced by the usage of some fuels- extremely toxic to my kind. The most my body would be able to handle would be a matter of months before the carbon monoxide would have an effect on me. I closed farther into the atmosphere until I found a suitable landing area, a small open area behind a structure. The ground was covered with the structures. Each was made of organic materials. I slowly landed the ship upon the grass covered ground. I put in place a translator near my neck and ear so I would be able to talk to the native beings. The walking catwalk opened up and stepped outside for the first time on the planet. The air of the planet was somewhat dirty but refreshing after all the air from inside the ship. Before I could notice anything on the planet, my eyes were drawn to a figure standing near the structure with its eyes opened widely toward me. A female by the looks of the way she was built. What to do now? Was her motive friendly or hostile? The entire fate of her planet may have lain in the hands of this one personage.
